Workshop: Kids can code AIs

Even primary school children can use IBM Watson to create apps

As part of the government's strategy for computing, schools have started to build up a wealth of resources and expertise. While they can teach the fundamentals of coding to children, topics like machine learning and AI are more difficult for them, because schools don't have the resources or the expertise. But IBM does.

Our outreach programme to schools includes"Machine Learning for Kids." It's a tool built using Watson APIs to help youngsters understand machine learning by making things with it for themselves. It featured recently in The Daily Telegraph, and you can read about that here.

This workshop at the Festival of Innovation is for an invited group of local school children. You can obtain the activities for yourself, for your children, and for schools, at the machinelearningforkids.co.uk site. There are currently 11 activities to download, and advice for teachers that you can also download.
