What if your office greenery could tell you when its thirsty?
When Alex returns from holiday, he wants to find his office plants are still green and lovely. He's hoping his workmates spotted the scribbled note he left them about not leaving his greenery in direct sunlight, and making sure it's watered - but not too much!
Now Alex can use Plant Buddy, which uses Internet of Things technology to alert his work colleagues when his plants need some TLC, or if they're feeling parched.
Plant Buddy is a proof of concept for instrumenting everyday things. It uses visual recognition and sensor data to send notifications to a community of people. It exploits communication technology from IBM business partner MultiTech, who are also attending the Festival.
Come and see how we've been keep our plants smart, in more sense than one.
