Hybrid cloud, open source, and containerised software
IBM's acquisition of Red Hat transforms the software market. The focus on providing clients with open, enterprise grade software with portability to any environment significantly changes the cloud space, and the way businesses are able to adopt cloud.
In two pop-up talks at the Festival, Ken Parmelee talks about what the acquisition means for IBM and the industry, and about our new IBM Cloud Paks that run on Red Hat® OpenShift® on IBM Cloud and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Beyond containers and Kubernetes, enterprises need to orchestrate their production topology, and to provide management, security and governance for their applications. IBM Cloud™ Paks are enterprise-ready, containerised software solutions that give clients an open, faster and more secure way to move core business applications to any cloud.
Speaker Ken Parmelee leads the worldwide business strategy for IBM Cloud Pak for Integration, and has held previous IBM roles in strategy and acquisition. Prior to IBM, he was a research leader at Gartner, a senior director of product management with Antenna software, and held key positions with Everdream, KPMG, and Sony.
Key components of Cloud Paks are developed by our UK development teams. You can see demos of each Cloud Pak at the Festival: Applications, Data, Integration, Automation, and Multicloud Management.
